Special Education Needs & Disabilities
Yew Tree Community School is an inclusive and supportive school that strives to ensure that children with special educational needs make fantastic progress during their time here. We work very closely with parents to ensure the best outcomes for all children. Our building is built to accommodate any staff, parents, children and visitors with disabilities and we provide disabled access to the school.
Lessons are adapted to meet the individual needs of pupils. Professional advice is sought for pupils who need specialist equipment.
We have developed an inclusion space for pupils who cannot access mainstream education due to their very complex needs. The curriculum is adapted and broken down into very small steps.
Our Special Educational Needs Leader (SENDCO) is Miss Hannah Greenacre and our SEND link Governor is Mrs S. Gibson.
If you wish to discuss your child’s SEND or are unhappy about something regarding your child’s schooling, please contact the school office to arrange a meeting with the SENDCO.
If parents/carers wish to make a complaint about the support provided for pupils with special educational needs, please refer to the federation's complaints policy.
