Art at Yew Tree Primary School

Our priority is to instill a love of art in every child by providing a curriculum that teaches the skills needed to become confident, creative artists. Children revisit and build on these skills throughout their time at school, ensuring steady progress and the opportunity to develop their own unique style.

We focus on promoting real artists and designers who make a living from their work. By showcasing these careers, we aim to inspire pupils and help them see the exciting possibilities that art can offer in the future.

To enrich children’s cultural capital, they study the work of famous artists both in art lessons and across other subjects. This helps them appreciate different styles, techniques, and cultural influences.

Our after-school art clubs are very popular and provide additional opportunities for creativity. These clubs are inclusive and well attended by all pupils, including those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable.
